First, I would like to highlight an important cause, April just started kicking in World Autism Month.
Autism is a spectrum condition that affects people in different ways. Like all people, autistic people have their own strengths and weaknesses. autism.org.uk
No two people with autism have the same symptoms. Symptoms generally appear in the early stage of childhood before the age of three. Symptoms can vary from mild to severe.
If you do find yourself noticing some developmental differences in your child, early intervention has proven to be one of the most effective strategies for raising a child with autism. myautism
From my own experience, my mom from an early age learned I was different, and using all the resources available when I was a child I’ve used all of them, especially sports and arts. Those have always been my 2 only obsessions in life and have allowed me to canalize all my energy and focus on it.
No, I am not a superwoman, but my brain does work differently from a neurotypical person, and this has brought a myriad of issues to my life, career, and personal development.
Some of the core characteristics of autism are having ‘repetitive behaviors’ and highly focused interests. Stereotyped examples include rocking backwards and forwards, (rocking a new yo-yo, maybe that it's just me), and a fascination with trains. However, in autistic women and girls these behaviors and interests may be similar to those of non-autistic women and girls, such as twirling hair and reading books, and as such may go unnoticed despite the greater intensity or focus typical for autistic people. autistic-women-and-girls

After having an extremely difficult childhood socializing with neurotypical kids, and multiple problems socially being accepted in any school I have studied, even though my intellectual achievements were outstanding the majority of the time. It wasn’t enough, making friends was almost impossible for me. I was blatantly honest and kids hated that, I wasn’t masking! 😝
I’ve learned that I had to mask my feelings when I was already in the job market after I had almost not graduated because of the constant social and anxiety crisis. I had faced my “colleagues” in Fashion School.
I have been to therapy for 4 years after that, and it didn’t seem to solve my meltdowns, when I moved to Berlin at the age of 28, I tried different approaches to therapy, like acupuncture, and qigong. I only have to thank my doctor Christina Schenck for pointing out different directions and showing me that what I felt most of the time was something much greater than my feelings, and that I should positively use that. 🧘🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️☯️
Living in Berlin, saved me from myself the amount of love I was able to experience, from strangers who became important friends and people that I had met through my journey especially my husband, showed me I wasn’t flawed, people in my home city had failed me and I had failed them back. 🥁💥
In 2020 I got tested for Autism finally and all the answers were there, it was like finding a treasure chest at the end of a rainbow.
I was 32 and finally proud of all my achievements, which completely changed my self-perspective. I could be myself!
No more apologizing, or tolerating hearing that I was strange or too intense! 🪐
Sports, love, a caring family, and mostly caring friends who were willing to understand me when I needed them the most, and no, I wasn’t wrong for being obsessed with arts and sports and that my inflexibility was just how my brain interpreted things. 🦾
If you are not sure if you are neurodivergent and you are going through a tough time and you have tried everything already and failed.
Look for a good psychiatrist it’s the only way to get help, for yourself or your kids.
Reasonable adjustments for autistic/ADHD employees and students.
I put a tiny poll last week on my LinkedIn and Instagram, very few people answered, but my number of readers did not stop growing. This is quite interesting. 🤔
But the reality is insights result from a lot of work, studies, and 15 years of doing what I do best, so If you came here for them you can shoot me a message and hire a personalized presentation 😉 🙌🏼.
It will be a real pleasure for me to collaborate with my future friends and clients.
